RE: Best on-line prices for general camping supplies

Like everything else, there is not 1 single source that is always better IMO.

RE: 2009 F150 specs 5.4L V8 gas - 320hp/390tq, 6 speed auto

Let's see, it is a 330 ci smallblock engine making 320 HP and 390 ft lbs of torque (delivered at 3500 rpm). Anybody that has been around the block a few (too many) times can see that those numbers are impressive for such a small motor. The Ford haters would never give it a break so we wouldn't expect it to be no different now would we. Those Toy guys wouldn't tell a fib would they?

RE: Equal-i-zer vs. Reese Dual Cam HP

Now I am completely confused..:h
What dual cam did you have? I have never used any "tools to tighten anything up with" when I hook up my dual cam.
Help me out with this one...maybe I am doing something wrong.
-------------
When you pull the torsion bar up via the chains you need a pipe to engage the snap up bracket.
We don't need any tools with the Equalizer. Except of course my hands to guide the bars onto the L-Brackets.
Happy trails,
You need no such bar if you hook it up correctly by raising and lowering with the jack. I don't even carry mine anymore.

That is a nice improvement without a major redesign.

RE: Equal-i-zer vs. Reese Dual Cam HP

There have been many posts on this forum concerning this subject if you want to read more. If you currently have a Reese and Don't need bigger bars then why not just add on the Dual Cam to your existing bars? this would be less than $200. As for ease of attachment, I have heard and seen the comment many times that the Equalizer is somehow easier to hook up and I find that odd. Nothing hard or complicated about snapping up the brackets on a Dual Cam. I can attest to the performance of the Dual Cam, it is an excellent system.
Nothing tough about this.

RE: Where to stay on the way to Florida?

Ft Clinch in Fernandina Beach in north Florida has a beachside camping section. Very busy, reservation is a must as with all beach camping in Florida.

RE: Camping outside of Camp Grounds? Where?

Ok, so state, county, and federal lands. No National Parks here in Iowa, and when I search the state parks they all charge about the same as a private CG and provide electric, water, sewer, one even has cable. Same with our county parks, all charge about 20-25 bucks a night.
So I guess our parks must charge a lot more than the rest of the states if you are all getting no-fee areas at state and county parks? We don't even need a specific "site" made for camping, but I don't see much in Iowa where you can just pull into public land of some kind and find an area and camp? Anyone from Iowa or the boardering states know of some good spots like that?
Most Florida State Parks charge between $15-25. Most have water and elec. A lot of National Forest sites are very cheap and offer no utilities at all.

RE: My first Tow...weight problem HELP!

1. Maybe, but you are probably maxed out if not over GVWR
2. Considering the tongue weight of a trailer that size, MAYBE 500 lbs
3. For safety margin I would recommend a class 4
Keep it under 65 mph, or slower if more comfortable.
You will need all the proper equipment as well. A good W/D hitch with integrated sway control, (such as the Reese HP Dual Cam) and a brake controller.

RE: Boondocking in Florida

There are many developed CG's w/o hookups in the National Forests/Park in Florida, as for legit boondocking opportunities there may not be many, at least that I know of, unless you know the property owners. There is still much undeveloped land in the interior away from the metro areas.
